Job Summary
The Sales Associate at Playtri Sarasota is a vital touchpoint for customer engagement, instrumental in crafting a superior in-store experience. This role is multifaceted, encompassing a spectrum of responsibilities from spearheading sales initiatives to adeptly managing inventory, as well as providing traditional bike fits. The Sales Associate is not only the face of the store but also the foundation of customer relations, aiming to foster lasting connections with each interaction.

Their enthusiasm for health, fitness, and the triathlon lifestyle resonates through their work, enriching the store's atmosphere and driving its success. Deeply familiar with the triad of triathlon disciplines—swimming, biking, and running—the Sales Associate is poised to support the unique needs of triathletes and endurance athletes, whether seasoned competitors or enthusiastic newcomers.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales by designing a complete solution with Playtri and complementary products and services.
- Achieve Sales Goals: Strive to meet or exceed daily and monthly sales targets.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and advising customers
- Responsible for opening and closing the store, ensuring all systems are operational.
- Inventory Management: Perform regular stock checks and report discrepancies
- Oversee the register, manage cash transactions, and ensure accurate accounting.
- Skillfully field incoming customer calls, providing exceptional service while accurately capturing and recording complete contact information into the Shopify customer database
- Proactively reach out to customers to convey additional service recommendations from our mechanics, ensuring clear understanding before requesting customer approval.
- Maintain store appearance by organizing displays and restocking shelves.
- Operate the store's security systems, including surveillance, locks, and alarm systems.
- Act as the liaison between staff and management, communicating any issues or needs.
- Assist in sustaining an organized and clean store environment, extending from sales floors to backroom areas and restrooms, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff.
- Ensure new inventory is promptly entered into the system and strategically displayed on the sales floor, and inform Owners if stock is low or if there is a discrepancy.
- Assist with minor bike repairs if asked, including but not limited to flat repairs.
- Perform traditional bike fits as part of bike sales.
- Perform sales, refunds, exchanges, and inventory updates in the Shopify POS system.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Playtri retail store policies and ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Be familiar with Playtri services, events.
- Be an ambassador for cycling and the triathlon community.
- Support social media posting.
- Other store duties, as needed
Qualifications
- Previous Retail Experience: At least one year of experience in a retail environment, preferably in sporting goods or a related field.
- An extensive track record of top-performing sales and customer experience results demonstrated over time.
- Knowledge of fitness solutions and industry trends.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with athletes and customers.
- Self-starter and able to achieve individual goals while also influencing the success of the overall team.
- Enthusiasm for cycling: A basic understanding of bikes and bike accessories is required
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer Proficiency: Experience with point-of-sale systems, particularly Shopify, is a plus
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling cash transactions and inventory management.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with other staff members.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle various customer service scenarios.
- Flexibility: Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
- Passion for Fitness: A strong interest or background in cycling, triathlons, or other endurance sports is advantageous.
- Social Media Savvy: Comfortable with fundamental social media interactions to support the store's online presence.
