Parents are always asking about nutrition for young athletes - below is a comprehensive guide provided by US Youth Soccer that I think does a pretty good job hitting the major points. For those who like a lower grain diet, I recommend substituting vegetable for some of the recommended grain portion as an alternate carb/fiber source.
